System Architectures

CSS Sculptor
A System is a working combination of hardware, software, and network devices forming a complex or unitary whole.

Systems and Principal Solution Architects are complimentary partners. They both span multiple disciplines, domains and functions.

OSS (Operational Support System) Enterprise

A large telecommunication carrier faced the ever increasing demand to reduce cost and increase efficiency. The customer’s goal was to use Information Network Corporation's Solution Design Process for delivery across their entire suite of 35 Operational Support System (OSS) applications and throughout all life-cycle phases (design, development, test, implementation). Information Network Corporation’s response was to use a variety of architectural design standards depending on the criticality of the application. In other words, the Principal Solution Architect chose the right technology based on the application’s RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Object). The large telecommunications company realized savings by deploying only what was necessary.

Large, Multi-Data Center Application

Information Network Corporation was engaged to design a large system; load balanced across multiple data centers, and all instances capable of supporting the full production load in the event of a disaster. The customer required 99.999% environment availability due to the revenue loss the application generated when unavailable. The Principal Solution Architect took the customer requirements and designed a systems architecture that supported 10 million subscribers through a ‘n+1’ architecture, high-availability database clusters, and load balancers across multiple data centers.

Large Reporting System

A Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a part of a service contract where the level of service is formally defined between two companies. One company had a requirement to collect all SLA related data to ensure revenues were not being paid unnecessarily. The SLA data collection points occurred across multiple network zones such as Internet-facing, internal corporate network zones, plus highly secure zones. Information Network Corporation’s Principal Solution Architect responded with a design that met corporate architecture domain standards; security requirements; and infrastructure to support the large data warehouse.

Order Entry System Consolidation

A large customer had a requirement for consolidation of 5 different Order Entry systems supporting 14 lines of business with 6,000+ simultaneous users into a new Siebel implementation for Order Entry. The new system would start with a 5TB database with a 5MB/sec rate of change and would need to capture 900,000 calls per month resulting in 450,000 tickets per month. The customer also required that in the event of a failure or disaster that the system be able to be recovered within 2 hours with no more than 2 hours data loss. Information Network Corporation delivered a multi-vendor, multi-data center solution including a disaster recovery plan. Employing a platform repurposing strategy we saved the customer $5 Million over other vendor recommended solutions.

Post Merger Sales Force Automation

A newly formed national cellular company needed to deploy a Sales Force Automation (SFA) tool to enable their mobile sales force of more than 2500 members. The engagement for the SFA vendor was to begin the following year, unfortunately the budget for the Infrastructure was allocated in the current year. Further complicating the situation, the SFA vendor would not provide sizing information until engaged. Information Network Corporation develop a capacity analysis based on previous experience and current research that allowed hardware to be purchased meeting the cellular companies timeframe. In the 12 months following deployment of the new SFA system, sales increased 137%.

State Government Secure Internet Portal

Several state governments requested networking services carrying a Service Level Agreement (SLA) from their local telecommunications company. The service was required to provide a secure network management portal, allowing employees to monitor network performance and fault. The portal also provided SLA reporting and self-service provisioning for additional capacity and service. Information Network Corporation provided a secure single sign-on solution that met all requirements for functionality, access and security.
