Ailing Performance System

A network services vendor was using an older version of HP OVPI to collect billing usage data, Service Level Agreement (SLA) data, and monitor performance of $250 million in annual business. The systems had fallen behind collecting data, missing their SLA and resulting in penalties of $7 Million per year. The further risk of missing the SLA was the possible renegotiation of contracts worth $250 Million annually. Other complications included a lack of test or development equipment that could be used to stage changes.

Information Network Corporation conducted a Performance Engineering assessment of the system and network environment to determine deficiencies. Our Principal Solution Architect developed a solutions design for the replacement of 2 firewalls, addition of 2 servers and retained the former servers to provide test and failover. The implementation saved $7 Million in annual penalties, $2.5 Million recovered revenue and avoided renegotiating $250 million in contracts. The collection interval was reduced from over 24 hours to slightly less than 5 minutes.

Fragile and Cheap Application Move

At some point companies are faced with relocating applications with minimal budget. One organization needed to move a fairly large, highly available application to a new data center. The organization did not have capital budget for new equipment but did have expense for relocation services. Information Network Corporation architected a relocation plan without impacting the application’s availability. The moved application was delivered on schedule and within budget.
